Why Pilgrim Hydration Had to Be Powder

Why Pilgrim Hydration Had to Be Powder

When I set out to create Pilgrim Hydration, I knew it needed to be powder-based.

Why? Because if you want your body to absorb nutrients quickly and fully, powder is the way to go.

Here's why.

1. Absorption Matters: Why Powder Wins

When it comes to hydration and performance, what you absorb is more important than what you consume.  I’m not breaking news in saying how you take your supplement directly impacts bioavailability - the percentage of nutrients your body can actually use.

Capsules and tablets are compacted forms that must first break down in your stomach before the nutrients become available for absorption.

This process can delay delivery and for some people, reduce overall absorption.

It’s clear that powders, especially electrolyte powders dissolve when mixed with liquid. This method of consumption allows your body to absorb essential minerals rapidly.

We feel powder form is a non-negotiable because when it matters under stress from heat, activity or illness, waiting for a tablet to break down isn’t just inefficient it can be the difference between triggering a bad migraine, getting an upset stomach or hitting the wall during an endurance event.

2. Maximising Ingredient Potency and Flexibility

Powder form also allows companies in the supplement world the freedom to include more of the functional ingredients in every serving - unlike tablets and capsules which are constrained by size and how much active material they can physically hold.

This is not a negative on capsules rather it’s a blog on highlighting the differences. The capsules and chews do have their place and may suit some people better.

3. Not Everyone Wants to Swallow Capsules

A surprisingly large percentage of people struggle with pills. In fact, studies estimate that over 40% of adults report difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules. Whether it’s psychological, anatomical or simply preference, it’s a real barrier for some people.

4. Mix It Your Way

Powder drink mix allows a one and done method to be your daily routine. With Pilgrim Hydration I wanted to be able to easily combine other supplements like creatine or protein powder for example, into one easy drink. No extra prep just one mix that you can personalise to fit your needs.

I’d love to know… if you take electrolytes, what form do you take them?
